a monthly poetry blog

Poetry

Wonderfully weird and entirely visceral, poetry is my passion. I write as often as I can (usually monthly), taking local classes and honing my craft.

the other side of grown

growing up, they don't ever tell you
about the other side of grown
mom's lipstick kiss still warm on your hand
a reassurance in the unknown

growing up, they don't ever tell you
about years and inseparable friends
the threads tangle and weave together
but each must eventually end

here on the other side of grown
monotony is a heavy weight
the days blend into the tomorrows
yet you must scrap to fill your plate

here on the other side of grown
we're all grappling out in the deep dark
you aren't the only one in the café
waiting for a sign or a small spark

it's in the unknown of the grown
where your voice echoes through space
your asteroid flies to a new star
finding the next great orbit to chase
